Hover Board

I was inspired last week by the IPA's round up of emerging trends from this year’s SXSW Interactive Festival. Our presenter Nigel Gwilliam shared how emerging technologies and innovation with a heart are shaping our world.

Developments such as wearable technology, the dissolution of the interface and 3D printing seem in the realms of Back to the Future hoverboards to me, which makes me wonder how and when I will start seeing them emerge in everyday life.

When he told us of how 3D printing can be used for good (printing new arms for a young boy in Africa) as well as evil (production of plastic guns and bullets) and the fact that sports clothing can now correct posture I did start to see a very exciting future ahead.

And in a week where we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the first web page it’s not difficult to see how quickly technology has transformed our lives, the tablet is set to overtake computers in the next 2 years and the first thing most people do in the morning is check their smart phones, it’s become clear for most people the real world and the digital world are now inextricably linked and as for the future? In the words of the Spice Girls it looks like we will see the 2 become 1.
