My Favourite App - Mia Horton

23snaps on iPhoneAlthough I'm off on maternity leave I didn't want to be left out of the big app debate, so I thought I'd contribute with my favourite app too! With my current 'baby brain' the app I’ve chosen is admittedly somewhat mummy-fied but a great tip for anyone with kids.

23snaps

23snaps is free to download and perhaps its best described as a private Facebook account. You set up a profile for your child (I suppose the same could apply for your dog/partner/granny etc. but that might be a bit weird!) and add pictures, videos, measurements, weights and other information to their timeline. This is a great way for obsessed parents to safely share pictures with their family and friends without boring the whole world with constant updates. Multiple people can add pictures to the account and only specially invited people can see them, "love" them or leave comments.

My husband and I started to use the app a few months into our little boy's life and he now has a dedicated following who expect nothing less than at least a few updates every day. They can't wait for their instant alert telling them a new picture or video has been uploaded and if they don't get one they definitely let us know! It's a full time job just to keep them all up-to-date with what we get up to! There are some fab features, allowing you to tag the posts as "firsts" if it's the first time your child is doing something like that precious first smile, and each post has the exact age of the child, making it almost a bit like a photo diary. The people behind the app are clearly savvy enough to realise that they are on to something good as they even phoned me up for my opinion of their app and have now even started to sell merchandise such as photobooks etc.

Despite being accessible online, the app has also led to both sets of grandparents joining the Apple generation and are now the proud owners of ipads and iphones. It's clearly more than me that is addicted!
