My Favourite App - Kirstie Fisher

Kirstie Fisher   —   12 September 2013   —   Opinion

4 scenes 1 movie appMost of you will remember that in the early part of the year Facebook feeds were full of people posting images of four pictures asking for help in guessing the word which connects them all together. I for one wasn’t overly impressed by the deluge of people who couldn’t guess that pictures of a man catching a ball, a telephone, a modem and a woman with a present represented the word ‘Receiver’. This went on for months, so long that I eventually gave in and downloaded it. I was hooked.

This, however, isn’t my favourite app. My introduction was written merely to set up the ‘scene’ for what is my favourite app at the moment. The big, movie buff brother of 4 Pics 1 Word – 4 Scenes 1 Movie.

4 Scenes 1 Movie

4 Scenes 1 Movie works in exactly the same way as its little sister app, users are given four pictures from separate scenes of the same movie and are asked to fill in the gaps and name the film. Sure to any film buff this would seem like a fairly easy. Pictures of Leo, Kate Winslet, a necklace and a sinking ship quite obviously represent Titanic, Green Ogres, Bucktoothed Donkeys, a Dragon and a Pompous Knight equate to Shrek but they do get harder. Users will be forgiven for not remembering that pictures of Denzel Washington, Whitney Houston, A Church and Christmas Tree represent The Preachers Wife and that Chris Evans, Djimon Hounsou, Dakota Fanning and a flying car represent the movie Push….Push? Who even saw that film…let alone remembers if they did.

I think my love for this app stems from a couple of things. Firstly I love film, I rarely get the time to visit a cinema these days which isn’t great but that hasn’t dampened my love for cinema, and secondly I’m a sucker for a quiz. You know the feeling of accomplishment you get when, having thought about what the answer to a question for ages, it suddenly appears and you get the question right. Well, this app delivers that feeling every time I play it. Yes I may breeze through the more obvious ones but the ones that have me thinking for a few minutes before I get the answers are the ones I get the most satisfaction from. That and I’ve been reminded of films I haven’t thought of for years. Like Push….seriously, does anybody remember Push.

Download it, have a play and let me know what you think…
