We were delighted to have taken part in this year’s Advertising Unlocked initiative organised by the IPA.
The industry-wide annual open day encourages the world of advertising to open their doors to the next generation of adlanders and marketing mavericks so they can see first hand how campaigns are made, what job roles are involved at every stage of this process and just what is needed to get your first break into the industry.
16 students, aged 15 to 16, spent the morning with us, having travelled all the way from Savio Salesian College in Bootle, Liverpool. All of the students were an absolute pleasure and their enthusiasm for what we do was overwhelming.
Members of our team, from all of our different disciplines – creative, digital and account management, took time out to host workshops, talks and Q&As so that the students got a true understanding of our environment and how we work. We even got them creating ideas for a current task for our client WaterAid.
All students were asked to fill out a questionnaire after their visit, and we were thrilled that everyone had ticked that they had a positive experience from the event.
One student even put “It was incredibly fun and interactive. I’m definitely going to look into this as a maybe career. You are all amazing and thank for this opportunity.”
Another key out take from us is how we were able to demonstrate the varied skills and roles within ‘advertising’, many of the students fed back to us how they hadn’t realised just how different the jobs in advertising could be.
